The rear sway bar link mounting points on the trailing arms of all E30 and E36/5/7/8 models are a known weak point. Add larger sway bars, tighter suspension and sticky tires and the stock brackets will eventually snap off. This happened to our Z3 Coupe running a 22mm rear sway bar without this reinforcement. This weld on solution boxes in the mounting point for the sway bar bracket virtually eliminating the possibility of a failure in this spot.
