This is an OEM Grade Geba water pump. It is made in Germany and features a metal impeller.
Please Note- The manufacturer has changed the design of this pump. The impeller is now made of heavy gage stamped sheet metal. While not a casting, it is still an improvement over the composite pump impeller mentioned below.
The water pumps BMW used in most of their twin cam 6 cylinder engines came with a plastic or composite impeller. Over time and many heat cycles these plastic impellers tend to break apart. When this happens, not only do the pieces of the impeller scatter throughout the cooling system but coolant stops flowing promptly causing immediate overheating.
