The upper and lower intake boots on BMW M54 and M52tu engines are one of the most common causes of vacuum leaks. The small elbow that comes off the lower boot and goes to the idle control valve is generally the first spot where the boot fails. Inspect your boots for cracks and replace them before they fail causing running issues and allowing unmetered and unfiltered air into your engine.
