The factory 'x-brace' stiffens the chassis on E36 3 Series and Z3 models. It works by connecting the front subframe with the frame rails. It also adds some protection for the oil pan. The x-brace came on all E36 3 Series convertibles and all 1996-2002 Z3 models but it fits all E36 3 Series models. The Z3 and M3 models already have the threaded holes in the subframe where the x-brace attaches but the non-M 3 Series requires the installation of threads into the subframe. BimmerBum's nutsert install kit makes quick work of installing threads into the subframe. (2-01002)
