The factory pumps have gained a bad reputation over the years for having failure prone plastic impellers. The factory pumps have a life of around 90,000 miles and should be changed as preventative measure. The reality is, the 90,000 mile service schedule is often ignored and the pumps are used until failure. The composite impeller pumps have the advantage of an incredibly lightweight impeller with a consistent shape.
