Rear shock mounts are a well known point of frustration for many BMW enthusiasts. Failed rear shock mounts can generally be identified by audible clunking coming from the rear suspension during low speed maneuvers. Fortunately there are solutions. For those wanting a slight upgrade over the stock mount these E46 M3 mounts fill the bill perfectly. The toughest mounts BMW used came on the E46 M3. Conveniently, the E46 M3 mounts can be used on all E30, E36, E46, E85 and E86 models as an upgrade without compromising comfort. Of course, these are also a direct replacement for the E46 M3. Mounts are sold in pairs and should be replaced in pairs.
