Not sold on “Fan Deleting” your Z3? THIS IS YOUR SOLUTION.
Like many BMWs the Z3 uses a plastic composite mechanical cooling fan. These are pretty robust, but with age they become brittle. When the mechanical fan lets go it can easily take components of the belt drive and cooling system with it. In some cases, fan debris actually damages the hood!
BimmerBum Co has long sold a Fan Delete Kit- which facilitates simply removing the fan to avoid this issue. Not all owners are comfortable with this option, so we’ve assembled this Z3 Cooling Fan service kit to address the 4 main cause of fan failure. Those causes are: fan embrittlement, failed fan clutch, worn engine mounts, failed water pump.
This kit Includes: 11 Blade Fan, Fan Coupling (Clutch), Engine and Transmission Mounts, Upgraded Aluminum Water Pump Pulley, Main Drive Belt and new Genuine BMW mounting hardware.
You may also add an OEM Grade Water pump with metal impeller or a High Performance EMP Stewart water pump to complete the package. (We recommend the Stewart Pump)
